Swim-up Bar By Mary Vail
Creating a poolside bar seems like a luxurious idea, but actually a very practical one, especially if you like to hold parties in summertime. There are several considerations for making the bar terrace, however, the idea is pretty simple. Usually the swim-up bar can be approached from the water, so that makes it easier for the guests to stay in the mood for partying, while still being in the water. Even in the water, the swim-up bar can have stools to sit down. Make the underwater columns near the bar stand so that your guests can enjoy a drink while sitting in the water.
Another thing about poolside bars is that they usually have a roof. So essentially it is a gazebo with extended base that serves as a bar stand and can be approached from the water. Some other decorative features can be approached from the water as well, such as fire pit. Of course this fire feature would be outside the margins of the water, however it would be quite a welcoming spot especially in the night.
If you want to add tropical charm make a bamboo thatched roof for your gazebo. The roof doesn’t have to be entirely thatched, but instead opt for a wooden base roof and then apply the bamboo on top of it. Also it is important to consider materials from which the stools and bar stand will be made and that will be located beneath the waterline. They should be quite sturdy, and the usual materials of choice are stone tiles and concrete.
