Transitional Outdoor Designs
Transitional outdoor décor crosses a very thin line between the outdoors and the indoors, thus it can be decorated in any style that pleases the owner. The inspiration for the transitional decor comes from the various interior designs, as well as classy outdoor decorating styles, therefore, there is no ultimate guide to transitional outdoor style, only suggestions. Let’s explore the various decorating methods using the inspiration below.

The term transitional can also be associated with the interior design style of the same name that usually takes a bit of contemporary décor and fuses it with other inspiring styles. Transitional outdoor decor can be most obvious in the screened porches, sunrooms and covered swimming pool rooms. The classy elements in the transitional outdoors would echo the furnishings of the nearby interior, continuing the indoor theme.
One of such decorating ideas is to use the upholstered furniture, as this element is rarely used in the outdoors. Upholstered furniture will give the feel of the indoors in the enclosed area of the outdoors. Like in the above example we see the upholstered sofa that was adapted to the outdoors with a help of ropes, making it a swinging sofa.

Now, not only furnishings can add a sense of the indoors to the outdoor area. When you include the spaces that are traditionally attributed to indoors into the outdoor setting, this can also do the trick. In the example with the outdoor room we see the classy low-rise outdoor furnishings, but there is something else that captures the attention. This something is the outdoor bar and a kitchen.
Another idea of combining the indoors and outdoors is to use furnishings that are mostly likely to be seen in the indoors. Such details can be vases and mirrors, as seen in the example below. The classy wicker armchairs are complemented by the coffee table, upon which we see a vase with flowers, and above which we see a mirror that we most likely to encounter in the bathrooms or entry halls. So following the general idea of extending the indoor style into the outdoors, you can decorate in transitional style. The photos are via HGTV.
