Zen Miniature Garden
Zen garden tradition traces back to centuries of rich history and craft, however it usually requires some big space. If you lack the needed space, yet want to have your own zen garden, we will help in creating a miniature!
Making a Small Zen Garden
Having Zen garden in your garden might be an awesome idea, yet not all of us have the decent space for that. If you are one of those, follow these easy instructions to make your own small zen garden.
For this project, you first need to think about the container. It can be a shadowbox, vine box, pans, trays and such. The choice of the container depends on your type of zen garden, because most often the rock garden is the first choice. If you like that option, stick to the shallow container, yet if you want to include mini plants, use something deeper for the roots.
If you chose to have a rock garden, there is nothing simpler than that! Add some sand into your shallow container and place the lovely smooth stones in it. To create ripples in the sand use a fork, or a comb. The results depends solely on your perception of the zen garden!
However, if you also want to include some plants there is a slightly different procedure. You are sort of creating a Japanese stroll garden in miniature! You will need to include soil to the container. It would be best of course if you could include a bonsai tree, but the container should be a lot deeper than a vine box. So instead, choose something lovely that resembles a tree and plant it into the container. One idea is to decorate the remaining surface to create a garden aesthetic. You can also decorate your vine box with driftwood pieces, which would look awesome!
