Most Interesting Lilies
Lilies are magnificent and numerous so you can find any color, size, and even shape that will suit your garden perfectly. They aren’t just trumpet-shaped. You can find a variety of interesting and unusual species that at times look nothing like lilies but they aren’t less beautiful.
For instance the aptly named Fringe lilies have round and elongated fringed petals that give them such an unusual appearance you would’t probably think they belonged in this bulb’s family. Thysanotus tuberosus is a beautiful pink purple color and it grows up to 60 cm.
Gloriosa Lily (Nevis)
Looking like spurts of flame Gloriosa lily’s petals definitely make it stand out from its sister varieties. Plant it in a well-drained soil and full sun as lilies love light and water regularly during growing season. These beauties will definitely become stars of your garden.
Toad lilies are cute and exotic-looking due to their unusual spotted coloring. They, on the other hand, love partial to full shade but should be grown in a moist well-drained soil. Many toad lilies come in pink, purple, and yellow colors, but a rare Himalayan Toad lily has blue ombre petals. Other spotted lilies include some prominent varieties of the Canna genus like ‘Monet Sunset’.
Voodoo Lily (Amorphophallus konjac)
If calla lilies are your favorite type of lilies you’ll probably love Voodoo lilies as well. More dramatic and peculiar looking, Amorphophallus lilies will definitely start conversations.
