Bird-table without a roof

The most difficult part of the job is to make a roof for the bird-table. So, if you are not confident in your construction skills, you can try to make a simple wooden tray.

You will need a piece of plywood, four thin wedges as upstands and a rope for mounting it on a branch. And the bird-table is ready. Big minus of such construction is that it is not protected from snow and wind.

Wooden bird-table with a flat roof

This option is a bit more complicated. It is not difficult to attach four columns to the bottom of the bird-table. They will support the roof. Then there is another piece of plywood to be fixed with screws on the top of construction (it is better if the size of the top piece  would be slightly larger than the base of the bird-table). Such elementary roof will serve as a small shelter from rain and snow. The minus of this design is that it can become too heavy and break off, as the flat roof will accumulate snow.

Mesh bag

You can make an entire “dining room” with a large assortment of dishes for birds, using a mesh bag. Mesh bags are comfortable by the fact that large birds, like ravens and oyster catchers, can not use them. This option is ideal for small birds.

Bird-table of coconut

If you accidentally find a coconut, then you can use its shell as bird-table. Such natural, ecologically pure bird-table will delight birds and decorate the garden.

Mesh containers

Such constructions can often be found in stores. But a good master can make such bird feeder with his hands. Metal is a quite affordable material.
