Not all of the houses are sold with the lush greenery up in the front and the backyard, so if you are thinking of starting a new lawn this is a perfect starting point to start a new landscaping future of your property! Here are some basic tips of making the first steps in acquiring a perfect curb appeal.

Basics of Starting New Lawn

If your front yard looks like a forlorn place, new lawn can help you out in improving the look of your property and increase your curb appeal. If the front or backyard still has some reminiscent dead grass particles, perhaps you would start with removing the stuff you have from the property. This can be done by using certain chemicals, or a DIY Method is as follows: using white distilled vinegar and iodized salt, mix in the water with a liquid dish detergent, and thoroughly mix the ingredients. Then sprinkle this mixture over the dead lawn, where you would want to kill the remains of the grass. Next thing is to till the soil to remove any dead leaves or grass. When you are sure that the dead grass is gone, it is time to prepare the soil for the new grass. Use a cup of baking soda in a gallon of water and then spread this water to create a good pH balance for the new grass.

The best time to plant the new grass is to know what is their best season. For example, the cool season grass is it best to plant in late summer, or early fall. Warm season grasses are good when they are planted in late spring, just in time for summer hear. You should also be aware, that grass is growing the pH level is around 7, so test the soil and add additional lime to increase acidity, likewise, to decrease acidity you will need to add sulfur. Apply some additional fertilizer and till the soil surface, but before you do check that there are no rocks or debris in a way! When you have raked the soil to a perfect smooth soil, then start spreading the seeds. This can be done by using the lawn spreader, or by hand. Then again, rake the soil and cover it with extra soil, about lawn spreader 1/8 inch soil. After you are done with that, start watering the new lawn, and should be thoroughly watered. Avoid walking on the grass, until it is at least 1 inch tall.
